In the municipality of Bragança, in the village of Parada de Infanções, we find the only wine produced in the area.
The vineyards are centenary, pre phylloxera, with more than 120 years old where exists about 20 different grape varieties

Return to origins

From the desire to return to his origins, Jorge Ortega Afonso (JOA) has decided to realize the greater dream of making from an old Straw house, a winery to produce his wines

Privileged position

The terrains are schist, 700 meters high and the climate has great thermal amplitudes (in summer it is hot during the day and cold at night)

Distinct product

Due to the age of the vine and the traditional processes of grape growing and grafting, it is possible to find different varieties in a single vine, making the wine process even more interesting and the final result a distinct product with a peculiar and very curious complexity

The history of this winery and the people of Parada will be told as the harvests of JOA wine. With rigor, dedication and a touch of daring.

It is said by tasters that Alto Do Joa´s elegance and singularity is similar to that of Borgonha wines. In time the same will be said, however in the opposite.

From the shale essence and thrashed by very high temperatures, Parada ‘Terroir’ is located at a height of 700 meters.
