Challenged to produce luxury soaps

In 1999, Aquiles Barros, professor of chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto for 26 years, was challenged to create a manufacturing unit that would produce luxury scented soaps for an American brand

Started with 6 workers

Castelbel began production in 2000, with only six workers and an annual turnover of 150 thousand euros. Now they are more than 200 workers

Name: Hometown and beauty

The name "Castelbel" reflects two characteristics that remain intrinsic to us. It combines the name of our hometown (Castêlo da Maia, in Greater Porto) with the word beauty, which is present in what they do
